Room 2 “La Bella di Cabras”

Passi Alterni La bella di Cabras (1)
Spacious triple room with private bathroom inside

The name of the room recalls the title of a beautiful book written by Enrico Costa (Sardinian author), in which not only the women’s beauty Cabras,Sinis lagoon village about 100 km away from Alghero. is praised, but also offered an insight of the local reality, strongly connected to the mullet tradition fishing. From the eggs of this fish is obtained the famous bottarga, also known as “the gold of Cabras” or “Sardinian caviar”, with which the dishes of the local tradition are enriched. Cabras is usually suggested by the staff as a destination for a daily trip, along the beautiful road coast towards Bosa. In fact, Cabras is a town rich in natural and historical beauties: the Protected Sea Area “Penisola del Sinis – Isola di Mal di Ventre” with its beautiful white quartz beaches: Is Arutas, Maimoniand Mari Ermi. Along the road to Is Arutas there is the charming rural village of San Salvatore which, with its characteristic low houses (cumbessias), in the past was also a set for western films. Cabras is a village with very ancient origins, in fact it has a lot of archeological riches. The most important, certainly, are the Giganti di Mont’e Prama (Mont’e Prama’s Giants), the largest archaeological discovery of the end of 20 century made in the Mediterranean area. Partly exhibited in the Giovanni Marongiu Civic Museum, today they are the symbol of Sardinia’s identity. Very interesting archaeological area is also the ancient city of Tharros, founded by the Phoenicians in front the sea on a previous nuragic village.
